8 min readPelican Town hub: shops, hearts, and daily loops
How to cluster Pierre, clinic, museum, blacksmith, and Saloon stops into one town day without zigzagging the square twice.
Pelican Town is a hub of shops with awkward hours: Pierre’s seeds, Harvey’s clinic, Gunther’s museum, Clint’s blacksmith, the Community Center, and the evening Saloon. Zigzagging clinic → Saloon → Pierre → clinic again is how farmers lose hours.
Build a daytime cluster and an evening cluster. Use villager schedules to catch people outdoors—indoor hunting after you already passed their workplace wastes the clock.
Daytime shop cluster
Day loop template: Pierre (if open) → Community Center donations → museum if Gunther is in → clinic gift for Harvey → blacksmith geodes/upgrades → exit toward Mountain or beach as needed. Skip stops with empty hands.
Wednesday variant: Joja seeds instead of Pierre, then the same museum/Clint spine. Festival days scrap the template—follow the festival map instead.
- Seeds first while inventory is empty enough to carry them
- Donations next so pockets free up
- Clint last if you will be heavy with geodes
Evening hearts and birthday exceptions
Evening loop: Saloon after 5 for multi-hearts, with leftover gifts. Some NPCs are home instead—do not force Saloon universality. If you still need Pierre, you already missed him; shop earlier tomorrow.
Birthdays rewrite the loop. Carry the loved gift from morning and intercept wherever the schedule puts them, even if it breaks clustering purity.
Outdoor intercepts beat indoor hunting
Outdoor intercepts beat door knocking. Morning town squares, afternoon paths, and bridge crossings are schedule-dependent gold. JunimoSphere schedules shine here—filter by time before you leave the farm.
Rain moves people. A rainy town day is not a sunny town day; update the plan when the TV forecast says so.
Co-op town roles
Multiplayer towns benefit from a meetup board: who buys seeds, who donates, who cracks geodes. Cabins should not all stand in Pierre’s doorway debating crop choice at 9:10 AM on Spring 1.
Bulletin quests inside the town loop
Town is also bulletin board quest country. Grab quests in the morning when you buy seeds so the day’s walk completes both. Turning in quests late at night still works when NPCs are reachable—pair with Saloon routes.
Children, pets, and later town events change pathing. Keep flexibility in your loop rather than memorizing one forever route from a Year 1 guide screenshot.
Opposite corners and minecart rewrites
Southeast blacksmith and northwest Community Center are opposite moods—do not bounce between them five times. Carry geodes only when Clint is the next stop; carry bundle items only when CC is next.
Minecarts, once unlocked, rewrite town approaches. Rebuild your loop after carts appear instead of forcing old walking habits.
Weather edits and co-op pins
Rainy town days move villagers and change fishing priorities. Sometimes the correct “town day” becomes a river fishing day with one Pierre stop. Let weather edit the plan.
Co-op meetup pins (bench by Pierre’s, Saloon porch) reduce Discord confusion about where everyone is.
Schedule literacy, mental compartments, and cart rebuilds
Town mastery is schedule literacy. Once you know when Pierre, Clint, Gunther, and Harvey work, the square becomes a chessboard you win in thirty minutes. Without literacy, town is a maze.
Carry quest items, gifts, geodes, and donations in separate hotbar mindset even if physically in one pack. Mental compartments prevent wrong turn-ins and accidental shipping.
Festivals overwrite town. On festival days, do festival things; move errands to yesterday or tomorrow. Fighting the calendar is how FOMO and empty shops happen together.
Minecart unlocks are a second childhood for town routing. Rebuild paths the week carts appear. Old walking habits waste the unlock.
Co-op pins and roles turn town from chaos into a tiny logistics company. Seeds officer, donation officer, geode officer—silly names, serious time saves.
Evening Saloon finishes the human part of the day after the commercial part. Commerce daylight, hearts moonlight.
Thirty-minute town mastery drills
Run a thirty-minute town drill one day a week: seeds if needed, donations, museum, clinic gift, Clint if geodes wait, bulletin quests, then leave. Time it. Learn where minutes hide.
Mental compartments beat bigger backpacks. Know whether you are in commerce mode or hearts mode. Mixing modes without a plan creates zigzag walking.
After minecart unlocks, repeat the drill using carts and rewrite your defaults. The farmer who unlocks carts but keeps old walking routes bought a trophy, not a tool.
Rain edits the drill into fishing-plus-one-shop. Let weather win. Fighting rain to force a sunny route is how energy dies.
Co-op town drills assign roles and a meetup pin. Four farmers shopping independently is not freedom—it is four overlapping mistakes.
End drills at the Saloon after 5 when hearts remain. Commerce daylight, hearts moonlight remains the chant.
Errand tickets and anti-zigzag rules
Write errand tickets before leaving the farm: three bullets max. If a fourth appears mid-town, it waits unless it is on the physical path. Tickets prevent zigzag religion.
Anti-zigzag rule: southeast services chained together, north CC/Pierre chained together, evening Saloon separate. Crossing the square repeatedly is the failure mode.
When energy is low, shrink the ticket to one shop. A single successful Clint drop beats four failed partial errands and a pass-out.
Lock in calendar-and-pocket mastery
Town mastery is really calendar mastery plus pocket mastery. Check closures, carry the right chests’ worth of items, and accept that some days town is three minutes and some days it is the whole afternoon. The loop serves the day, not the other way around.
Use JunimoSphere links in this guide to verify schedules, bundles, and item names beside the game rather than trusting patchwork memory from an older save.
Errand tickets in practice
Example ticket: (1) buy 40 seeds at Pierre, (2) donate two bundle items, (3) crack geodes at Clint. Anything else waits. If Harvey is on the path, gift coffee as a freebie; if not, do not detour.
When the ticket is done, leave town even if you feel unfinished. Unfinished is tomorrow’s ticket. That boundary is how town stops eating Skull Cavern afternoons.
Town routing pitfalls
Mistakes: shopping after mining with zero inventory space; ignoring Wednesday closures; and running to the Mountain three times because town errands were not batched first.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best daily town order?
Seeds/donations/museum/clinic by day, Clint if needed, Saloon after 5. Adjust for closures and birthdays.
How do festivals change town loops?
Festival maps override normal shop hours. Do festival first, shop other days.
Should I always do town before the Mines?
When shops and donations matter that day, yes. When it is a pure luck combat day with no errands, mine first and town later if energy remains.
Can I finish town errands after the Mines?
Only if inventory and energy allow. Many planners town first, mine second.
How do I stop forgetting Clint?
Put geodes in a “Clint” chest at the farm exit the night before. Full pockets of geodes at Pierre’s means you already failed the cluster.
